Action films have consistently ranked

among the most lucrative subgenres throughout the whole of the film industry. Every year, people from all over the world travel to movie theaters to see films that are both captivating and beautiful, and which include characters who punch one other, shoot each other, or blow things up. Although this may at first seem to be alarming, audiences take pleasure in being able to discover an exhilarating escape from the mundane tasks of daily life via the medium of these films, many of which are among the most successful and well-liked in cinematic history. However, despite the fact that there are many more excellent films in the same category, the ones listed below take the cake as the finest action movies ever made.

1. Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985)

A follow-up to 1982’s First Blood, this sequel is a bombastic action blockbuster that opens on a then-record number of movie screens. It’s the most successful Rambo film and, over time, has spawned a host of imitators and parodies. The plot involves Rambo being recruited from prison to go to Vietnam and free American prisoners still held there. But society isn’t ready to accept the hero.

2. The Matrix (1999)

Keanu Reeves stars as Neo, a computer programmer who discovers that the world he perceives to be real is actually a simulated reality. A wise Oracle tells him that he is the “One” prophesied to free the human race from the Matrix. He is rescued by the rebels Morpheus (Hugo Weaving) and Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss). Their burgeoning understanding of the Matrix’s simulated nature allows them to bend its physical laws. Download the gomovies app to watch the full movie.

3. The Dark Knight (2008)

A year after Batman (Christian Bale) and his allies took down the city’s mob, a vile criminal mastermind in ghoulish makeup named Joker (Heath Ledger) terrorizes Gotham. Batman, Lieutenant Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) and DA Harvey Dent are left with no choice but to fight this new threat. The battle becomes philosophical, as the values of justice and good faith clash.

4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2016)

Captain America: The Winter Soldier ushered in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and laid the foundation for many important elements in the franchise moving forward. The film was a hit, and helped establish the Russo brothers as key architects of the MCU. It’s also the best Captain America movie since The Avengers, a superior entry in the Marvel canon that has everything you want in an action thriller. Add to that the best hero in the MCU, Chris Evans, and you have a movie worth your time and money.

5. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Marvel’s most explosive clash ever rocks the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War. After the United Nations decides to impose regulations on Avengers operations, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) battle over who should be in charge of the team. With so many films following Civil War in release order, they stop reflecting the actual MCU chronological order and there are more timeline-breaking anachronisms to look out for!
