Islam considers several days and nights exceptionally blessed, during which Allah is more likely to answer supplications.

Here are ten such days and nights, along with some details about their significance:

Laylatul Qadr:

This is the Night of Power, which occurs during the last ten nights of Ramadan. It is believed by Muslims that this night is the most blessed night of the year, and it is said that the Quran was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during this night. Muslims are encouraged to spend this night in worship and prayer, seeking forgiveness and asking Allah for blessings and guidance.

Verily We sent down the Qur’an on the night of the Proclamation. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The night of decree is better than a thousand months. Angels and spirits descend there with the Lord’s permission in all matters. Peaceful it is until dawn.”

[Quran, 97:1-5]

Hazrat Aisha (R.A) expressed that the Heavenly Prophet (PBUH) said:

“Search for Lailat-Ul-Qadr in the odd evenings of the most recent ten days of Ramadan.”

The first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah:

Muslims believe that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, the days of Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca, are some of the most virtuous days of the year. Muslims believe that good deeds during these days are multiplied, and Allah forgives those who repent on the day of Arafah (the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah). Some companions of the Prophet asked if even Jihad was not better than decent deeds during these days. He answered that not even Jihad is better, except for a person who endangers themselves and their property for the sake of Allah without gaining anything back.

It is known that Allah’s messenger used to fast the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah, the day of ‘Ashurah, and three days of every month.

The day of Arafah:

It is the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah and is considered the most important day of the Hajj pilgrimage. Muslims who are not performing Hajj are encouraged to fast on this day and engage in acts of worship. It is believed that on this day, Allah forgives the sins of those who repent and grants their supplications.

The people who cannot perform Hajj are encouraged to continue to fast on this day, but travelers are not required to fast, given their extreme conditions.

Abu Qatadah (R.A) detailed that the messanger (PBUH) said:

“Fasting the Day of ‘Arafah appeases the transgressions of two years: past one and coming one. What is more, fasting Upon the arrival of ‘Aashuraa’ appeases the transgressions of the previous year.”

This Hadith portrays the soul of fasting on this day for the All-powerful as far as being pardoned the wrongdoings of the past and the coming year. Aaishah (R.A) revealed that the messanger (PBUH) said:

“There is no day on which Allah liberates individuals from the fire as He does Upon the arrival of ‘Arafah. He comes close, and afterward, He gloats to His holy messengers: ‘What are these individuals chasing?'”

It implies that Allah SWT appreciates those who bow before Him and seek His exoneration. He shows His joy with His Holy messengers about his reality as described in the previously mentioned saying of the Sacred Prophet (PBUH).

The last third of the night:

This is when Allah descends to the lowest heaven and responds to the prayers of those who are supplicating. Encouragement is given to Muslims to wake up during this time and engage in extra worship and dua, seeking forgiveness and blessings from Allah.

27th of Rajab

One of four hallowed a very long time of Islamic Schedule (rest of three are Zul Qa’dah, Zul Hajj and Muharram), it has a general significance of ‘to regard” and is viewed as the Period of Allah by the Heavenly Prophet (PBUH). By and large, it is related to fasting for the Most Benevolent.

Rasulullah (PBUH) was cited by Abu Hurrehah (R.A) as fasting over time, other than Ramadan. Jibrael (A.S), the Holy Messenger of Allah, took the Messenger of God (PBUH) on a journey called “Isra” (venture) from Makkah to Jerusalem on a consecrated evening, which is the 27th of Rajab. There, he led the prayers with all the previous Prophets behind him. 

Afterward, he went on “Mer’aj” (lift) from Jerusalem to the sky until he was granted the honor of meeting with Allah SWT. Muslims were then directed to offer Salah daily, as it is the most valuable way of drawing closer to the Almighty and seeking His forgiveness.

The night before Eid al-Fitr:

This is the night before the festival of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan. It is believed to be a blessed night, and Muslims are encouraged to spend it in worship and prayer. Dua for Depression
